Dr. Matthias Thommes was elected into the Council of the International Zeolite Association and will serve in this council for the next six years. The International Zeolite Association (IZA) was organized in 1973 at the 3rd International Molecular Sieve Conference to promote and encourage the development of all aspects of zeolite science. This major materials science organization hosts commissions for Catalysis, MOFs, Natural Zeolites, Structure, and Synthesis.

Dr. Matthias Thommes (Quantachrome’s Director of Applied Science), in an invited lecturer at this event, he will present a 60 min tutorial lecture on Physical Adsorption Characterization on Friday, June 3rd. Dr. Thommes will also give an oral presentation on June 2nd, (co-authored by Katie Cychosz, Quantachrome Analytical Training and Research manager) on very recent research focusing on new insights in the understanding the adsorption of phase behavior of fluids in hierarchically structured materials and corresponding advances in characterization. Furthermore Dr. Thommes will be the chairman of the adsorbent characterization session on June 1st. In addition, Dr. Thommes and co-workers will co-author three additional poster presentations reflecting high level collaborations between Quantachrome and well-known international research institutions, including NIST, Gaithersburgh, USA, University of Leipzig (Germany), Rutgers University (USA). MRS Spring meeting, March 28 – April 1, Phoenix, USA: Dr. Katie Cychosz (Quantachrome’s Analytical Service and Research Manager) will give a talk entitled “Surface Area and Porosity Assessment of MOFs by Combining Ar Adsorption with Sub- and Supercritical CO2 Adsorption”.
